Neglecting These Things Can Harm Your Dog
You obviously love your dog and would give him the best care you can to keep him healthy and happy. As a dog owner, you regularly walk your dog and feed him, bathe him and groom him. You might not be aware but there are a number of things more that you should not neglect. Forgetting these things may cause serious health concerns and can be bad for your dog. Keep regular tabs on these things.
One of the things dog owners tend to forget is dental care. A lot of dogs suffer dental diseases at a young age and it is common. Your dog’s oral health requires more than just healthy puppy treats and the customary looking for gum diseases. If your dog has other dental problems, like broken teeth or tooth decay, a dental check-up can much more readily find it. Your dog’s dental care should start while he is still a puppy, if you want to avoid serious dental issues when he grows up. There is no need to delay because his mouth will become very prone to disease.
Brushing his teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush protects his teeth and gums from decaying. Brush the front teeth then gradually move into his mouth making sure you also brush his gums gently.
It comes as a surprise to many that dog owners actually forget about fleas, which is so common but easily preventable. The problem with fleas is that they cause skin allergies, so even a little flea infestation can turn into a serious one. In order to prevent fleas, you need to know what attracts them in the first place. What attracts fleas are warm and humid surrounds and what repels them are cold and dry ones. There are seasons when it is impossible to avoid having hot and humid weather, on these days you need to use flea creams or chewy tablets to keep fleas away.
There are also natural treatments you can use on normal days. Homemade concoctions and essential oils are also helpful to use as they don’t contain chemicals that can affect your dogs coat.
Unlike cats, dogs are not choosy when it comes to food and will eat almost anything you give them. This is the reason why sometimes dog owners do not care much about feeding their dogs poor quality food that can be harmful to them.
Some popular brands of food has also caused concern because of their manufacturing procedures and the quality of ingredients they put into their dog food. The laws in some states are not too strict when it comes to the poor quality of meats that can processed into dog food. The intense heat in many dog food processing plants can destroy all the nutrients in the meat that the end product has already lost all nutrients.
You should be aware of these things.
